AAD Featured Author Interview: Lavinia Kent

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Lavinia Kent!

Is this your first year attending AAD?

Yes, this is my first year at AAD.  I’m really looking forward to it, but a little nervous.  It always takes me a day or two to get used to something new.

What made you want to come to AAD?

A friend asked me if I was interested.  I said yes, without really knowing what it was.  I love reader events, and I’m always happy to visit a new one.  Once I looked AAD up and understood what I’d agreed to, I was thrilled.  I can’t wait to finish my Sins and Virtues costume and join in the fun.

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in her room?

All of the above.  I normally progress from the bar to the room, although many times I never make it further than the bar.  How can I leave if there’s a good book discussion going on?

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?

My book, Mastering the Marquess, comes out at the end of July.  It’s the first time I’ve written a truly erotic romance.  I started out just working on another hot historical, but my fingers (and characters) just ran away with the story -- taking me places I’d never been.

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?

Definitely my July release, Mastering the Marquess.

“Can you imagine a willing woman who knows nothing, a woman who knows only what you teach her, a woman who doesn't even know that pleasure exists?”  This is the question that my hero, an outwardly staid marquess, gets asked, and finds he cannot resist answering.  The night that follows surpasses anything he, or my heroine, had ever imagined.

One of my critique partners is still mystified that I managed to write something that is so hot and still sweet.  I loved writing sex scenes that really helped the characters work through their problems and understand aspects of their personalities they didn’t even know about themselves.

Mastering the Marquess. It’s hot.  It’s funny.  It’s dark.  It’s sweet.  It’s sensuous.  It’s . . . .  What’s not to like?

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
I drink everything.  I’m most often found with a glass of Pinot in my hand, but I love a good Lemon Drop or Cosmo.  And I never pass up Tequila or Margaritas.  Plus, I grew up in Wisconsin, so I can drink beer like water.

Everyone loves the conference costumes. Can you give any hints about what to expect?

RED. RED. RED.

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?

I really wanted to have matchbooks made up, but was shocked at how long the order time was.  I’m working on a couple of other ideas, but you’ll have to wait and see.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Frances Stockton!

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Frances Stockton!

Is this your first year attending AAD?
Yes, it is, and I’m very excited to be among so many talented authors and meet readers and friends.

What made you want to come to AAD?
I’d heard about AAD from authors that I know and admire and have tried to go before. Unfortunately, timing precluded me from attending until a space opened up this time around.

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in their room?
I tend to hang out near or by the bar/lobby area, depending upon how many places are available. I love to talk to people about books, but admit that I can be shy at first. Once I get to know someone, all bets are off.

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
If all goes according to plan, my next book is an Ellora’s Cave Exotica titled Pleasure Trove. It’s my first foray into an erotica that may (or may not) have a HEA ending.

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?
Only one? LOL, actually, I would suggest starting from the beginning of my Ink and Kink series with Quarterback Blitz, Ellora’s Cave Sophisticate. That book sets up a six book series, including Phalen Maddox’s first appearance, and readers LOVED him from the start.

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
Cranberry and vodka

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?
Pre-made bags of fun Frances Stockton goodies, featuring chocolate, tip cards, body lotions (edible, of course) mints and a few surprises, including chances to win autographed books from my backlist.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Desiree Holt

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Desiree Holt!

Is this your first year attending AAD?
Yes, it is, and I’m very excited about it. I have heard such great things about it from both autghors and readers.

What made you want to come to AAD?
Both my street team leader and author friends who have attended kept telling me what a special event it is. Authors recommended it as a great venue to connect with readers on a personal level, which of course is very important to me.

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in their room?
Not throwing a party in my room this year but I am hosting one of the tables at the ball. Lust, of course, with the fabulous Saranna DeWylde. I am also in the scavenger hunt, the ribbon party and on three separate panels. The rest of the time, yeah *wink*, hanging out in the bar.

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
I just had a release, Ride the Mustang, part of the SEALs Going Hot series, and Spurred to Submission releases in June. Also I’d love for them to check out Beyond Addiction, which just came out from Ellora’s Cave. That was a tough, very intense book to write. And I’d also like them to keep an eye out for Finding Julia, out in September. My first release with Kensington.

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?
Wow. Let me think. It’s really hard for me to choose and I’m torn between two: Aftershock and Beyond Addiction. One is an intense love story and the other a very intense BDSM love story. They represent both sides of my writing.

Tell us about the party you’re hosting at AAD!
I heard through the grapevine you’re sponsoring a table at the Sins & Virtues ball. Tell us more!
Yes, hosting with Saranna DeWylde. The Lust, table, of course. We will have favors for our readers and it gives me a chance to chat with readers on a more intimate basis.

What panels will you be on at AAD?
I’m on three of them: BDSM-Where To Start; Erotica; and Sports, which is great because I am just starting a football series for Kensington.

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
Jack Daniel's with a splash of water. Jack and I are old friends!

Everyone loves the conference costumes. Can you give any hints about what to expect?
It’s a big secret! *wink*

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?
Still working on that with my street team leader but it will all revolve around my Naked Cowboys and my Phoenix Agency. Although I may have the first Finding Julia swag, too. Think tote bags, clips, buttons, maybe even special key chains.

We’re all excited about the book signing. What books will you have on hand to sign and sell?
Most likely my Phoenix Agency series, which has been a huge hit.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Jenn LeBlanc

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Jenn LeBlanc!

Is this your first year attending AAD?
Nope! This is my third year at AAD, and I love it.

What brings you back to AAD?
I absolutely LOVE the conference and the readership it brings. This reader con has a completely different vibe from most of the con I go to. It’s close, fun and intimate and everyone has a good time.

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in their room?
If I’m not in a panel I’ll be where everyone else is, last year it was the bar/lobby area, I haven’t seen this hotel, but it will be one or both of those.

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
My most recent book came out in April, and it’s called ABSOLUTE SURRENDER. It’s the story of a woman with mental illness, who is doing her best to marry the man she was promised to before he discovers there’s something wrong with her, all while her best friend attempts to ruin their progress to keep her for himself.

It’s truly a very different kind of historical… and it may start out a love triangle, but ti somehow ends up a ménage, even as the guys are rivals and don’t like each other.

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?
ABSOLUTE SURRENDER. Of course. I am absolutely in love with these characters and this story. It’s the book I’ll be signing at AAD. Preorders for hardcopies for AAD are already popular, I should have a few extras, but I have limited space on the plane! Preorders from my website are the only way to guarantee a copy.

Tell us about the party you’re hosting at AAD!
I am one of the authors hosting the Sins and Virtues ball… which should be amazing.

I heard through the grapevine you’re sponsoring a table at the Sins & Virtues ball. Tell us more!
My table is CHASTITY… which should get very interesting, and wicked.

What panels will you be on at AAD?
I am on the following panels:
Humor (because who doesn’t love to giggle),
Sexy Sexy Sexy (because who doesn’t love… yeah why do we read romance?),
History Unlaced (because I do write true historicals, requiring research and the whole shebang),
Cover Art (because I’m also a cover photographer) and
Historical Romance (back to the whole history thing, and history as a character in the book)

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
OMG at a bar? That all depends on where we are, at RT in Kansas City I was all about the Dark and Stormy, and at AAD in Savannah I was in love with the Release the Kraken. There were a few different drinks I loved in NOLA, but I don’t remember the names. So I suppose I need to find a new one in Charlotte! Let’s figure it out!

Everyone loves the conference costumes. Can you give any hints about what to expect?
Stripes down the rabbit hole. :)

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?
I CAN’T SAY. It’s a huge HUGE HUGE secret that has been trying it’s level best to make it’s way out into the real world. But it’s amazing, involves an artist who is incredible, and some original artwork. I guarantee you haven’t seen anything like this.

We’re all excited about the book signing. What books will you have on hand to sign and sell?
I will have ABSOLUTE SURRENDER and THE RAKE AND THE RECLUSE both in limited supply AT the signing unless you have preordered them from my website. I currently have a few of the special editions of ABSOLUTE SURRENDER still available, signed by the cast if you’d like to guarantee yours.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Selene Grace Silver

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Selene Grace Silver!

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
I’m thrilled about my paranormal novel The Binding of Adara which just released (June 2014). It’s part of a series about a large clan of witches and warlocks who can shift their present timeline to an alternate reality at will. (The first title in the series is a novella, Brianna’s Bewitching, available exclusively on Amazon.) As I conceptualized the series, I wondered what witchcraft would look like filtered through the science of physics, so the stories position themselves at the crossroads of contemporary, paranormal, futuristic and erotic romance.

What panels will you be on at AAD?
I’m excited to be on panels discussing topics close to my heart including: Great Geeky Heroes (love how brilliant intellects are often countered by inept relationship skills); Contemporary Romance; Gods and Magic; and I’m on a panel that sounds perfectly naughty--If It Feels Good. The conversation in that sexy-sounding session is likely to be outrageous and entertaining. All of these panel topics link together strongly in my stories.

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
Dirty Vodka Martini, naturally, with extra olives. I love salty things. After all, I do write sexy romances.

Everyone loves the conference costumes. Can you give any hints about what to expect?
It’ll be appropriately categorized under sins rather than under virtues. I plan to be angelic after I die.

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?
The best thing of all for a conference all about readers: free (digital) books. I also have some awesome collectibles from my paranormal series to hand out.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Jess Haines

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Jess Haines!

What brings you back to AAD?
I’ve been attending Authors After Dark every year since they were in New Jersey back in 2010. This will be my 5th Authors After Dark. I have had a blast every time and always look forward to seeing friends, fans, and new faces every year!

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in their room?
You’ll usually find me running around like a chicken with my head cut off. There are always things to do at AAD and never enough time to get it all done! I love attending panels, readings and parties, so you will most likely find me sitting in on any of the urban fantasy or paranormal events when I’m not in the middle of hosting my own. Once in a while I’ll take a breather at the bar or in the lobby to hang out with friends. Don’t be afraid to come join me!

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
July 1st, 2014 -- plan your escape with Enslaved by the Others!

Vampires, werewolves, magi and worse--the Others have joined the mortal world, and there's no turning back now...
As a New York P.I. and Other specialist, Shiarra Waynest has been in plenty of trouble before. But waking up in a windowless room the prisoner of a vampire slave trader is a shock for anyone. Shia has her wits, her bravado, and a couple of used staples, so maybe she can take on a mansion full of serious evil.
But although she's desperate to escape, Shia needs some answers too. Her friends are in danger. There are betrayers and spies among them. And even if she can figure out what's going on and somehow get a message out, she's still a captive of the worst kind...

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?
You should pick up The Real Werewives of Vampire County! Not only is this anthology sexy and fun, but our Master of Ceremonies, Alexandra Ivy, is the headliner! You can have both of us sign it for you at AAD. How cool is that?

Drama. Scandal. Secrets. And a whole lot of supernatural goings-on.

I'm Pureblood Were, And Proud Of It. . .
"Where Darkness Lives" by Alexandra Ivy
No one's more surprised than Sophia when she's struck by an unfamiliar maternal urge to move near her daughters. But instead of being greeted by a welcome committee, she's targeted by kidnappers. . .and saddled with a gorgeous bodyguard on a mission to protect—and seduce. . .

I'm A Tomboy At Heart, But I Want A Man Who Makes Me Feel Like A Real Woman. . .
"Murder on Mysteria Lane" by Angie Fox
When a werewolf trophy wife is found dead in Vampire County, Heather McPhee goes undercover to investigate. Heather's never been a mascara-and-manicures sort of girl, but she's willing to learn. Especially with sexy vampire detective Lucien Mead posing as her husband. . .

Who's Afraid Of The Big, Bad Werewolves? Not Me, That's For Sure. . .
"What's Yours is Mine" by Jess Haines
Still Waters is like many other exclusive gated communities—except that it's home to one of the largest werewolf packs in the state. But Tiffany Winters isn't frightened of her big, bad new neighbors. In fact, she intends to take her place among the pack. . .

This Is A Town Full Of Secrets. And I Intend To Uncover All Of Them...
"Werewolves in Chic Clothing" by Tami Dane
Ever since Christine Price moved in with her fiancé, Jonathan, and his twelve year-old son, she's worked hard to fit in with a cadre of local women whose lives seem picture-perfect. Except no one in Jon's upscale neighborhood is quite who they appear to be. Least of all Jon. . .

What panels will you be on at AAD?
Look for me on the Vamps panel and the Odd Paranormals panel this year. If you like vampires as much as I do, ever played Vampire: the Masquerade, or have an unhealthy obsession with Spike from Buffy, come join me to talk about those sexy bloodsuckers. As for odd paranormals, well, if you get a kick out of zombies, necromancers, fox demons and more, that’s the place to be!

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
Anything involving coffee and/or chocolate. If they don’t have that, rum and Coke is my poison of choice.

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?
Keep an eye out for mini handcuffs as part of my promotion for Enslaved by the Others! They make excellent badge swag.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Olivia Jaymes

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Olivia Jaymes

Is this your first year attending AAD?
Yes!  I’m so excited!  I’m looking forward to meeting readers and authors, hanging out and talking about books, and maybe even have a cocktail or two.

What made you want to come to AAD?
I’ve been hearing about AAD for awhile now and everyone says it’s the ultimate place for authors and readers to really hang out and have fun together.

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in their room?
I’m usually hanging out in the bar and chatting.  My room is usually too messy to let anyone see it.

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
I’ll be boxing up the first three novels in my Cowboy Justice Association series and putting them on sale for a special price.  I may also have the fourth in the series complete - Cowboy Famous - but I don’t have a firm release date yet.

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?
Oohhhh, this one is hard.  Cowboy Justice is a series but the books can stand alone so I guess my favorite so far is Cowboy Truth.  There’s just something about a bad boy cowboy cop who rides a Harley.

What panels will you be on at AAD?
The Cowboy/Western panel!  Let’s talk about smokin’ hot cowboys!

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
I usually drink a Cosmopolitan.  :-)

SWAG. We all love SWAG! What cool stuff are you bringing?
I’ll give you a hint…. ducks.  That’s all I’m saying.

We’re all excited about the book signing. What books will you have on hand to sign and sell?
I’ll have the first three of the Cowboy Justice series - Cowboy Command, Justice Healed, and Cowboy Truth.

AAD Featured Author Interview: Hildie McQueen

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Hildie McQueen!

Is this your first year attending AAD?
No this is my third, the first year I attended as a reader and got about as much out of the con as I do now.  There is so much to do.  Such a blast.

What brings you back to AAD?
I enjoy an event that is geared to the readers and that’s what AAD is all about.  Also it’s small enough that you can mingle with people and not get lost in the crowd, yet large enough that you get to have a blast with a few hundred friends.

So where will attendees be able to find you at AAD? Do you hang out in the bar? The lobby? Or are you the one who throws parties in their room?
Definitely will be having a margarita at the bar. Here’s a great idea for a game “Where’s Hildie”, try the bars and if I’m not there, then I’ll be crashing a party.  Find me at the bar, I may just buy you a drink.

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
Yes, the latest in my Shades of Blue, Montana Blue is out in the Western Nights Anthology.  Also the first book in my new series. The Gentrys of Montana, The Rancher, will be released just a few weeks before AAD!!  I’m excited about both.

If you were to suggest one of your books to the AAD attendees, which book would it be?
You know that is the hardest question to ask an author.  I’m going to say Where the Four Winds Collide, it’s such a great story.

Tell us about the party you’re hosting at AAD!
Several bestselling crazy authors and I will be hosting the Mad Tea Party on Saturday from 5-6 p.m.  Enter a world of madness, win prizes at games that make no sense at all and prepare to laugh until your sides ache.  Goodie bags will be given to first 100 attendees!

What panels will you be on at AAD?
I will be on two panels, An interactive fun one, “Readers Rule Romance”,  where the tables will be turned on readers, and they’ll be the ones plotting the stories for us. I can’t wait for that one. Also find me at the Historical Romance panel.

If an adoring fan wanted to buy you a drink at the bar, what’s your poison?
First a Margarita on the rocks, second an ice cold Blue Moon, I drink wine at home mostly Cabernet or Malbec

We’re all excited about the book signing. What books will you have on hand to sign and sell?

I’m bringing my Westerns!  All of my Westerns!!  LOL

AAD Featured Author Interview: Tilly Greene

Welcome Authors After Dark 2014 featured author Tilly Greene!

Yah!  I’m so glad to be here … thank you for having me.  Grap your cup of coffee, tea or whatever your poison is … mine is Coke … and let’s natter.

Is this your first year attending AAD?
HA!  Ummm, NO!  I’ve been going to AAD since day naught and have loved every one.  Each year is slightly different but what’s the same is the fun to be had.

What brings you back to AAD?
Reconnecting with people and meeting new ones, those are the two things AAD offers and they never grow old.  There’s loads of fun to be had, book chatter to indulge and parties to flutter around, but honestly it’s all about the people who attend.  I could care less where they are held because I rarely leave the hotel or see my room for that matter … there is that much happening!  I think last year I was up and ready to play by 10 and in bed by 2, sometimes 3, and it was all fun and I have the pictures to prove it.

Do you have a book coming out before AAD you want the attendees to know about?
I do, thank you for asking.  Pleasured in London, a contemporary erotica with bondage and ménage a trois short, is the second book in my Pleasured in… series and will be released in June by me.  Come Back, my new shape shifter based in New York City is the first in a trilogy and out in July through Torrid Books.  Both of these will be available as ebooks.  As for paperback, well, I plan to have a super secret surprise book, fingers crossed, and then there’s Branded – my contemporary multicultural western BDSM anthology with A Wild Ride, that can only be found in Branded.

Tell us about the party you’re hosting at AAD!
There are two I have a hand in.  One is the cocktail party before the Bookies, which I adore!  They honor people in the industry, from bloggers to writers, and that is not done anywhere else.  At the cocktail party I should be able to unveil the super secret surprise book … ooo, three s’s, must be special!  The other event is the Paranormal Party.  Both are totally different and will be fun to attend.  Oh and there will be goodies to collect as well!

What panels will you be on at AAD?
I’ll be sitting on the multicultural/interracial, multiple partners, shifters and a readers rule panel … all different, good fun, full of information and goodies, cool swag goodies!  Oh, and I plan to have a bag of stuff like an AAD t-shirt and a mug to giveaway at one of the panels, sweet!

We’re all excited about the book signing. What books will you have on hand to sign and sell?
I write what I ready, everything, so it’s a mixed bag of delight.  Zandia is a futuristic and empowers women, Highland Heat is a shape shifter and you can’t help but fall in love with the hero Hamish Buchanan, Mythological Messes Redux has six Greek mythology stories where I’ve extended the traditional myth for a new and better ending and a few of them you’ve probably never heard of, and I can’t forget my new book, Branded, which I told you about above … cowboys are so bloody sexy, especially when they’re into BDSM!  Did I mention most of these books have BDSM in them?  Yeah, when we say I write it hot, it’s steam with the ladies bound and taken!  Not one of these books is the same, not even the super secret surprise book.  What I can say is they all would make a fantastic read while sunning yourself poolside or curled up on the couch … I’m all about the read!

Where can readers find you?
When I’m dodging deadlines, I am EVERYWHERE!  First there’s my website, like BAM, everything to know is there and then there’s  Facebook [it’s a habit] and my FB Profile [please, like me, I have so few ], Pinterest [totally addicted to clothes I’d never wear and hot dudes], Twitter [is where I drop random tidbits that float through my mind] and when I have a free minute I add to my Hot Thoughts Blog.

Can’t wait to see you all in Charlotte … make sure and hunt me down to say Hi!  I love meeting new to me people
