Do you know the Green Fairy?
![]() |
| Still Life with Absinthe by Vincent Van Gogh, 1887 hanging in the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, The Netherlands, |
While the spirit originated in Switzerland, it's popularity as an alcoholic drink was achieved on the heels of French artists and writers, which helped the opposition strive to ban its consumption. Even though it did not contain the hallucinogenic properties reported to possess, the United States took it off the shelves by 1915, but 2007 saw it once again legal.
Augusta Li and Eon DeBeaumont are hosting an Absinthe Tasting table at the Steampunk Ball in Symphony on Saturday at 9:00pm.
See you there!

Panels a Plenty
There are so many interesting panels/workshops for everyone - be they reader, writer, or the curious - to enjoy.
I have been trolling through the schedule and have highlighted many I want to attend and three of them are 'When Bad Covers Happen to Good Books' offered by Raelene Gorlinsky of Ellora's Cave, 'Branding' by Eliza Gayle, and 'Publishing Legalese' with Kayleigh Jamison, Caridad Pinero, Bianca D'Arc, Louise Fury and Lori Perkins.
Those are entirely different than the ones I'm going to be sitting on: 'Myth and Magic', 'BDSM', 'Food and Clothing in Romance - Details', 'Sexy Shifters', and 'Menage and More'. And there is the beauty of Authors After Dark, variation, something for everyone, however you want to put it, there's a plethora of subjects to mine.
Now, here's the thing. I know what I want to hear at the panels/workshops I'm attending, but am curious what others want to hear from the ones they plan on going to.
So, here's your chance - SPILL - what's the stuff you want to come away with!

Who am I? #4
We were born from Gaia [earth] and Uranus [sky] coming together. From the beginning we were big and strong, so much so, our father feared us and what we were capable of, and chose to lock us away. Eventually a relative released us to help him takeover power and we supported his endeavor. There is nothing handsome about us, but we are physically powerful, all of which encourages people still fear us by sight.
We are a primordial race with 1 being our thing but 3 of us being the most well known - who are we?
Hiya everyone!
I'm not sure, but today was the hardest to write. Fingers crossed you guys can guess from the mix of very general and tricky hints. All of this has been a fun way for me to think about the Mythos Masquerade, which I can't wait to attend.
Some of you I know, but for those I don't yet know, amongst other things, I'm a Greek mythological fiend. In fact, I have a series called Mythological Messes Redux that takes mythical characters who had a duff storyline, and write them a new one with Tease Publishing is the publisher. Now you see why I've enjoyed dropping these hints and hosting a contest [think crossword puzzle], with a fab prize during the Mythos Masquerade dinner - I love Greek mythology.
See you at the ball!

Who am I? #3
Zeus our father. I have a twin and am considered the ideal kouros, a beardless youth. That means all those Greek statues of naked athletes you see in museums and books are based on me. I know just about everything, even how to divine the future, and continue to monitor various fields advancements such as medicine. Something I will not stand for is competition. There is no one better than me in any field I choose to master and will dispose of all challengers as I see fit. That includes my love life. I'm not married, have children who have gone on to do great things, and play with both men and women.
Basically, I'm a smart diverse Olympian who loves both sexes, and am sometimes seen with a snake or lyre - who am I?
Hiya everyone!
Hope you're enjoying these short who's who treats because I'm definitely enjoy writing them up. Remember, this is all to get you ready for a contest during the Mythos Masquerade dinner.
Okay, can you guess who it is above?
Think Greek!

Who am I? #2
I get little respect for me or all that I do for humanity. There is no major worship sessions for me other than an occassional ass and agriculture goods. I'm a minor rustic god, but I'm very important. Despite my mother - at least the one I claim today - being beauty incarnate, I'm not much to look at, but a part of me is huge, and always appreciated. I'm a guardian, protector, and the harder I grow, the more things grow around me.
I'm an ugly god with a sarcastic and lusty attitude who never hides his most important attribute - who am I?
Hiya everyone!
It's hump day, keep that in mind when deciding who it is above. Hope you're enjoying these short who's who treats because I'm definitely enjoy writing them up. Remember, this is all to get you ready for a contest during the Mythos Masquerade dinner.

Who am I? #1
While I don't have a birth certificate, I consider Zeus and Hera my parents, and am a god. While mother and father are both hot tempered, I'm much more calm, peaceful, and think before I act. I'm not an immortal who sits around and looks pretty, far from the latter. Despite my physical limitation, hard labor is how I spend my time, and I do it very well. Many of my bretheren request my expertise. My work keeps me fit and yet my gorgeous wife strays.
So, I'm an Olympian that isn't perfect, but am married to beauty - who am I?
Hiya everyone!
I am so excited Authors After Dark in Philly is just around the corner! Stella has given me a thumbs up to host a contest [think crossword puzzle], with a fab prize during the Mythos Masquerade dinner and thought I'd start getting your heads in the game.
Can you guess who it is above?
I'll give you a hint for the contest: Greek mythology

5 reasons why I love going to AAD
Oh man, there are a multitude of reasons why I love going to AAD, but I think I'll give you five to get you started, and then you can discover the joy that is Authors After Dark for yourself.
Charity Raffles—there are always so many fabulous bags/baskets to try and win, I don’t even think how I’d get it home if I won them.
Panels—are relevant, interesting, informative, and a great exchange of ideas and insights between readers and writers.
Parties—always unique and a total blast, plus panels don’t start too early the next day you can’t enjoy the evening stuff to the wee hours.
People—a pleasure to meet new folks and old friends, and then there's those I get to meet in person who otherwise I only get a chance to talk to online.
And, last but not least, I eat—the food is always light and very edible for me, the pickiest of the picky.
All this and so much more is why I'm eager for Authors After Dark in Philadelphia, and already have New Orleans on my schedule. See you all there and be sure to bring your camera - there's always exciting stuff happening at AAD!
