My Very First Post!

Hi everyone!

Well, this is my very first post, and I have to say, I'm excited to be here! (I'm a little starstruck, too.) I've been a fan of every author here for quite a while, so when I was asked to join the blog, I was all wiggly and squealy and, "Was there really a doubt as to my answer?"

So anyway, I'm here, and I'm Larissa Ione (I also write as Sydney Croft with partner Stephanie Tyler,) and I'm a readerholic. I read pretty much anything, but my favorite genres are horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and paranormal romance. When it comes to all genres, the darker the better.

And when it comes to writing…well, I definitely let my dark side reign. Even my sense of humor runs to the dark side, often going as black as 'gallows humor.'

Still, as dark as I can get, I do love lighter books as well.

So basically, I like almost everything. I read mostly romance, but my favorite non-romance authors include Robert Jordan, Sharon Kay Penman, and Stephen King.

What about you? Do you gravitate toward the dark side, or do you have a lighter heart? Mix of both?

Thanks again, ladies, for having me! I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Woot! Larissa! *stalks you around internet* ;)

I tend to read quite dark romances - you know the kind, where the hero's are tortured and dark.
but then i read a lot of Young Adult books to balance it out. They're sort of "brain candy" as my mum would put it.

You know, I have never read a YA, but I've got one in my TBR that I'm dying to get to, so hopefully soon! :)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Hey Larissa,
Like Ayla, I guess I am one of your cyber-stalkers.

I read almost anything, except slasher type horror. 'Nightmare on Elm Street' pretty much ruined me for both books and movies of that genre. *shudder*

My faves are paranormal, romance, mystery, suspense and some inspirational.
Most of what I read is romance related in some way, but I love Barry Eisler and Robert Crais So much!
These days, when I can actucally take a few minutes to read, the more upbeat and HEA the better.

Light "RomComish" super sexy reads are my absolute favorite reads, but UMMMM....

Larissa's suck me in, kickass writing has pulled me into the darkside, which has opened a whole new reading door for me.

Hi Bianca! Thanks so much for the welcome! I'm super happy to be here!

Congrats Larissa!
I didn't know this blog existed until I read your post on your blog.

I'm a HUGE paranormal romance reader. Your newest book was one that I inhaled in record time. I like books with ACTION. Fighting, sex, more fighting and of course more sex. Oh, and hot alpha males and kick ass girlies to keep them in line.

Looking forward to more from you and the rest of the fine authors on this blog.

Hi Larissa! Loved Pleasure Unbound!

I have to say that I like a mixture of both dark and light romances, that perfect balance to keep things from going cliche and stale.

I've read maybe two or three horror books before, nothing that snatched me enough to continue with the genre.

I'm on a supsense-contemporary romance kick to add into my general paranormal reads (I read far more paranormals than I do fantasy, historical romances, etc anymore)

I love Anne Bishop's Dark Jewel Trilogy and it's very dark themed. I've never read a YA, hubs been trying but they just don't appeal to me like they do others.

Hello, ladies. I followed Larissa here. I gotta say that I like the banner a lot.

The funny thing is... I don't like horror for its own sake. Dark romance, yes. Horror? not so much.

Hi Larissa:

Here I am again, stalking from afar. lol

I have to admit to being a little starstruck as well, as I read and enjoy all of the cornerstone authors on this blog.

I do have a dark side. I read and enjoy Raven Hart, Devon Quinn, and love, love Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, and Lynn Viehl's, Darkyn Series.

Then of course there is the Demonica series - you know that one don't you?? lol

You are in good company here Larissa, very worthy, congratulations.

I'll try not to stalk too much. lol

All The Very Best
Lea :)

Usually, I lean more towards the light but sometimes I'm in the mood for dark and moody. :)

WooHoo Larissa - Wow! look at you. I love the blog. Do you think I could link it to my blog?

This looks like an awesome group :)

Larissa Ione said...

Thanks, Jessica! Good to see you here! Aren't these authors fabulous? I totally feel unworthy! *g*

Thank you, Stella! And darn that real life, anyway! LOL

Raonaid -- I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! :) I have to admit, I haven't read Anne Bishop, but it sounds like I need to!

Hi azteclady! *waves* The banner is cool, isn't it? The artistic talent here is fabulous. I couldn't create a banner with ten years of training...

But Lea...you know I like the stalking! LOL

Hi Tori! Good to see you!!!!

Greta -- of course you can link! I insist! *g* (I still need to get your blog into my blogroll!)

Hi Larissa, fabulous blog here!!! This is my first visit. As for my reading tastes... romance, hot spicy erotic paranormal romance. Dark or humorous. Love those tortured alpha males! Yum! Also historicals and contemporaries. I'm not picky so long as the writing is super, like yours!!

Hi Larissa! This is my first time on this blog and I found it through yours, so I'm glad to see you here. :)

As for what I read, it's a little bit of everything, except for horror. And though I do tend to gravitate toward lighter things in almost all other genres, I like everything in romance from the darkest to the lightest.

Some of my favorite non-romance authors all write in the suspense/thriller category, such as James Rollins and Clive Cussler.

Larissa Ione said...

Hi Nicole! Always good to see you! Looking forward to Devil in a Kilt! Love that title...

Nice seeing you too, Karin! Oh, and Clive Cussler! I'm SO looking forward to Arctic Drift!

I'm a fellow read-aholic! I stumbled across your Demonica series and I'm hooked after the first book! I love paranormal genre too, and your are right, the darker the better. There are some good (not too dark but well done mythologies) YA books out there. They are a nice contrast to the darker, richer adult genres.

Hi Larissa! I love the dark voice you've found writing Pleasure Unbound. I can't wait for more!

My first choice is always paranormal, UF, sci fi or fantasy, but have noted that lately I'm mixing it up more with a bit of contemporary and historical romances. I also used to be a very avid YA reader and have recently picked it up again. I'm not really into reading horror... but would be open to one upon a raving recommendation from a friend.

p.s. Hi Stella! ;)

Larissa Ione said...

Hi Una! How very nice to hear! And I can't wait to get started on the YA in by TBR pile! :)

Thank you, Eliza! It's kinda fun to be starstruck, isn't it? I love how the internet has allowed readers and our favorite authors to communicate. :)

*waving to Christine* We have very similar reading tastes! And you know, I'm loving the romance genre more than ever because of the diversity and the emergence of dark romance!

Hey Larissa -

Mucho glad to see you here. Now I can easily get a heads-up on your Demonica series.
As for reading I can go very dark to it's polar opposite of humorously light in my paranormal romance reading.

Also waves to Elizabeth & Alexandra.
