Happy Holloween!!

I love, love, love October...not because it's autumn (I'm a huge sun and fun kind of gal) and I detest the thought of the coming winter...but, what could be better than Halloween??? I remember when I was young getting to dress up in my favorite costume and spend the whole night as someone else? I've always blamed my love for Halloween for my decision to major in acting while I was in college :) Even when I married and had children and was supposedly an upright citizen (cough) I use to spend the entire day putting the most gruesome make-up on the boys for Trick or Treating. Poor things, all they wanted was a Ninja Turtle costume and I would make them into rotting zombies or metalic spacemen!

So, I hope to get you all in the mood for the festivities with an ARC for my next Guardian novel DARKNESS REVEALED. This is Cezar's story so I hope you'll enjoy!

To win, just tell me your very favorite Halloween costume when you were a child (or adult!) and I'll chose a random number to pick the winner! Oh, and in fairness, I'll reveal that my very favorite costume was when my husband and I went to a party and I made him into Jack the Ripper and I was one of his victims! Strange, I never wanted to be a princess or playgirl...give me something that just crawled from the grave any day :)

The very best to all of you!
Alex

my favoritest costume wasn't one of mine it was my bff at the time. She wore pink footed pajamas a motorcycle helmet covered in aluminum foil with antennas on top and green body paint on her face, neck and hands. She was an escellent alien. She came up with this one cause her mom told her she was too old to Trick or Treat and we mananged to scrap up enough money for face paint lol. we were 12 at the time lol.

I think my favorite costume was the year I dressed up as a vampire witch, I believe it was 5th or 6th grade. Everyone thought I was weird, but I thought I looked damn cool. :)

To tell you I the truth, I didn't have a "favorite", but I did have one that I hated.

My mom dressed me up as the wicked witch of the west--green face and all. I was supposed to be entered in a contest at my elementary school. Well, my dress was too long and it was raining that day. By the time I got from the car to school, my makeup had ran down my face and all over my dress. The dress which was now ripped at the hem from stepping on it.

Needless to say, I didn't win best costume but there is a classic pisture my mom took of me crying on stage, lol!

My favorite costume when I was a kid was when I was 12 or so. I dressed up as a "punk rocker" I had my hair all hair sprayed up going wild with different colored "hair paint" sprayed in it wearing leather pants and a silk shirt. I looked hilarious! - Jenn

Hi Alex...nice c'ing u here again. When it comes 2 holidays, my DH always says that he's got 3 kidz instead of 2. 2 boyz & 1 girl..an 8yr old, a 6 yrs & finally the biggest kid of all his 36 yr old...that would b MOI! *LOL*
I luv luv hoildays...there so much fun! My fav Halloween custom would have 2 b the 1 my Mom & I made in 4 grade 2gether. The 4 grade classes...which consisted of 2 classes of 20 students each...were choose 2 perform the annual Halloween Show 4 the whole elementary school that yr. I recall when both teachers were calling out roles 2 play in the show & c’ing who would like 2 volunteer. When the main role, a lonely pumpkin that no 1 wanted, was called out no 1 raised their hands...every1 feeling kind of shy. Don’t ask what got in2 me, I decided 2 just do it & raised my hand & told them that I would do it. I swear I practiced day & nite 4 that part...even dreaming about my lines. W/ my Mom’s expertise in sewing & my ideas of how I would have like my pumpkins customs, it turned out exactly how I envisioned it. Thanx Mom! The show was a gr8 success. The principal luved the custom so much that every yr till the end of my elementary studies I was asked every Halloween 2 come dressed up & visit the Kindergarten classes. Believe it or not I still have that costume but have not had the chance 2 c it on my boyz. Like my boyz say, that would b so lame! Zombies, monsters or superheroes is more their style. *LOL*
Have a gr8 blog. Ada:)

My favorite costume ever since I was a kid has been a vampire. I started out dressing up like Angelique of Dark Shadows fame and then later on it was swashbuckling renaissance vampires. Over the years the various costumes came and went but my handmade red and black floor length hooded cape still hangs in my closet. Hummmm.... maybe this year I'll pull the cape out and dress up like a goth vampire taking my niece and nephew out trick or treating again this year.

I love Halloween as well!
My favorite costume was when I was a kid in first grade.
My mom made it if for me it was skeleton suit and my sister fixed my hair really freaky and painted my face so it looked like a skull. I won the Halloween carnival contest that year for best costume.

As a child most of my Halloween costumes were witches of some sort. One time I was Buck Rogers!! That's the first Halloween I really remember As a teen, me and a friend went as rock stars and one time as umm...ladies of the night. Thank God our parents never found out! LOL

My favorite costume when I was a kid, was a gypsy costume. I absolutely loved it because the skirt had all kinds of sparkles on it and when you spun around it really flared out. It had a peasant style blouse and I wore a scarf on my head and lots of beads and bangles. Thanks for the memories Alexandra!

As a kid my best friend and I spent weeks creating her costume. We made a rubix cube. We were both perfectionists (yes, even then) and we spent weeks recutting a huge box trying to make it perfectly square and then pasting white paper to it. Then we tried to make 9 perfect tiny squares on each side and coloured them in. I don't think I have ever spent so much time on a costume and I didn't even get to wear it! Which turned out to be a good thing since my friend could hardly hold her treat bag because her arms wouldn't reach around the box. ;)

I am much the same, I like all my costumes to be dark. My favorite costume was a few years ago when I was a dark fairy, complete with purple wings and gloves, false eyelashes and a black rose headband. It was really cool if I do say so myself. LOL
I really like your costume with your husband. I'll have to remember that.

My favorite costume was a Renaissance dress I made for myself a few years ago. I made it up at my grandmother's house and we had a blast assembling it and just chatting together while I worked on it. Part of my favorite thing about the dress is that there are no buttons or zippers, it's all lace up, as is the corset I made to go under it.

Despite that no one in my community knew what i dressed up as, that I got asked "Are you a witch", I actually succombed to one of my obsessions and dressed up as a drow female. I had bought elven ears which my dad spray painted black. I bought the white wig, the spidery dress, and I even bought black makeup to cover my entire face and neck..

One year I was a vampire. The type that didn't wash her hands or face after her meal. It was alot of fun. I miss Trick or Treating! My kids claim they are now to old....is there such a thing as to old for trick or treating?

my favorite costume was the year my sister who was apprenticing with a costume designer made me an authentic Gypsy costume complete with curly hair (I slept on rollers all night to make my pin staright hair curl)held back by a spotted scarf, gold coins sewn onto a shawl tied around my waist, and lots of gold bangle bracelets and huge hoop earrings. I also carried a bag with a set of tarot cards and a crystal ball. it was fun although walking around bare foot, which she claimed was necessary to the costume, was really cold on the tootsies.

Hi Alex!!!
Wow! With the way you write romance so well, I didn't know you had a gruesome side too!
(Just goes to show...watch for the quiet ones! haha!)
YAY! Thanks for throwing the contest! A perfect prize before Halloween!
As a sci-fi/fantasy fan, it's always dress up time for me! haha!
(Well...I like to see what others come up w/...I'm too chicken to usually wear more than a t-shirt lol).
My fav costume was a pink princess/fairy cape my mum made for me! I could add other things to make it whatever I wanted and it was awesome to know she made it!!!
This year, mum bought me an awesome sparkly spiderweb witch hat, so you can guess what I'm going as! lol

I have to say that my favorite as a child was 4th grade when I went as a Vampire princess. My mom hated the fact I had been a witch, several years in a row, so I said I'd go as a princess to make her happy. She was till I put in the vampire teeth! I told her I was Dracula's daughter, the vampire Princess!

As an adult I haven't dressed up much. One year I went as a night stand. I had a box cut out with legs, and put a lamp shade on my head that poked out the middle of the box bottom. when asked I said I was "One Night Stand"... I got lots of laughs and won most origial that year! Gatta love adult costume parties!

my favorite halloween costume was when I was in high school and I went as a Vampire biker chick. I was completely decked out in leather and chains, with vampire teeth and blood dripping from my mouth.

I was a cat (black, natch), a witch a few years in a row (rubber face mask of a haggy witch--I could hardly breathe), and one year a pioneer girl. I think being a cat was my favorite...not surprising in retrospect, as I have five real cats now!

Hi Alex! I just came by and checked this out... Let's see, as for my favorite costume, I'd have to say it's a tie.
One is an archer. I was a HUGH fan of Robin Hood, the Musketeers, so I used eyeshadow, lipstick and eyeliner to make it look like I just came out of a really bad fight. My mom freaked when she saw me.
The other is what I'm doing to my daughter this year. She's going to be dressed up as a gothic marionette. She's great. As long as make-up and a colorful wig is involved, my daughter will dress as anything. She's great.

its kind of a sappy story but you wanna know my favorite costume so i'm gonna tell you about it..ok i lost my mom when i was 6 to some kind of cancer..but before that i spent alot of time watching her do crafts or drawing because she is probably one of the greats artists i've ever seen..anyways back to my costume..she made me and my older sister indian costumes i'm not sure exactly how she did it but she used indian jewlery..it was a tan outfit and she made us head bands and put feathers in them and then painted our hair black she even made us little moccasins. that was probably the coolest halloween ever.
